Troubleshooting
The app feels slow on the first launch
PerfectPlay precomputes its hand-rank tables on first launch. This is a one-time setup that takes a few seconds on a modern device — subsequent launches are instant. If the first launch hangs for more than a minute, force-quit the app and reopen it; the partial precomputation will resume.
My stats reset after an OS upgrade
Stats live in the app's local storage. On iOS / iPadOS, stats survive OS upgrades but not app re-installs. On Android, stats survive both unless you've explicitly cleared the app's data. If your stats appear empty after an upgrade, check whether the app was reinstalled rather than upgraded in place.
The advisor shows a different action than my strategy chart
Several factors can cause this — paytable settings, dealer rule (S17 vs H17), surrender availability, deck count. Check Settings → Game Rules to make sure the in-app rules match the chart you're consulting. If the rules match but the answers diverge, please email us — we run a daily diff against published basic-strategy tables and would want to investigate.
Card counting drills feel impossible
They will at first. Real-world counting requires hundreds of hours of practice. The Card Drill at 3.0 s per card is the right starting speed; once that's solid, drop to 1.5 s, then 0.75 s. Most players can land at 0.4 s after a few weeks of regular practice. Don't move down a speed tier until you can clear the current one with > 95% accuracy.
I think a recommendation is wrong
Email us. PerfectPlay's evaluators are heavily tested (110+ engine tests, including return-to-player validation against published theoretical RTPs), but edge cases in unusual paytables happen. A reproduction case — the exact paytable, the exact hand, the recommendation we gave, and the action you believe is correct — lets us run it through the test harness in minutes.

Does PerfectPlay work offline?
Yes. Everything runs on-device. No login, no sync, no network calls.
How do I reset my stats?
Open the lobby for the relevant game, then Settings → Reset stats. This deletes only that game's stats; others remain.
Does the app drain the battery?
Idle, no. The engine only runs when you're making decisions, and even then for microseconds at a time. The biggest battery cost is the screen being on.
Can I share my stats with someone else?
Not currently. There's no export and no cloud sync — your stats are local-only by design.
Why is there no real-money mode?
PerfectPlay is a strategy trainer. We don't operate a casino, gambling licence, or any wagering infrastructure, and we have no plans to. If you want to gamble, gamble somewhere licensed.
